Mixed Media Artist / Reseda, California
Veta Rice is a mixed media artist with a figurative
stylized technique. Her inspiration comes from all aspects
of life, physical, spiritual, mental and emotional.
She sees shapes in images that call to her on how to
paint. In turn, guides her to paint freely and passionately
utilizing her subconscious and absorbing her surroundings,
allowing her to choose which media to use based on her
subject matter and over all design.
Late in the evening Veta will go into her home studio,
sit down at her drafting table, and put on some old
Motown music, which inspires her creative flow. She
then begins drawing several rough sketches to refine
her vision.
As her vision takes form, she will seek out magazine
references and or photos she has taken of her subject
matter. Her gift is successfully doing so, by choosing
colors, and techniques that tailor each work of art,
specifically.
Once her color palette presents itself from her initial
vision, the piece then completes its story. She is then
able to know that her piece has come full circle by
way of spiritual, mental and emotional completion.
Veta was born 1966 in Detroit. Since the age of 5 Veta
had a love to be creative. At the age of 7, Veta painted
her first canvas of still life and at the time, she
knew where her life’s path would lead her.
Over the years Veta unknowingly was developing her
art technique by copying magazine pictures and setting
up her own still life. Over time, she had developed
a portfolio that later would gain her entrance to a
top college prep high school majoring in art.
In 1991 Veta graduated from Center for Creative Studies
College of Art and Design majoring in illustration.
Veta’s art will not only take you on a journey,
it will light up your heart. Each piece has an energy
all of its own, and will enhance your personal creative
thought process. Once you’ve experienced these
eclectic 2-D mini-films, you’ll never view art
the same way again.
